From October 7th to 15th, we had the pleasure of hosting early-career scientists from around the globe for the 19th Astroparticle School. As always, the event took place in Obertrubach-Bärnfels, where participants engaged in lectures covering various aspects of Astroparticle Physics. Philipp Eller (TU Munich) led a session on statistics for experimental physicists, Ralph Engel (KIT) discussed cosmic rays and air shower physics, Alison Mitchell (ECAP) introduced gamma-ray astronomy, and Juan Pablo Yanez (University of Alberta), along with Lisa Schumacher (ECAP), covered high-energy neutrinos.

In addition to these lectures, we had a series of invited talks. Felix Kahlhöfer (KIT) presented on particle dark matter models, Nataliya Porayko (University of Milano-Bicocca) shared insights into radio astronomy, Martin Rongen (ECAP) provided hardware knowledge for analyzers, and Axel Schwope (AIP Potsdam) introduced us to eRosita.

A key aspect of the school was the participant presentations, where each attendee had the opportunity to present their own research. They also got to build and improve their proposal writing skills during a Proposal Writing Workshop led by Anna Nelles (ECAP/DESY Zeuthen).

Evenings were a mix of socializing and learning, with three evening lectures: Marc Hempel (PT.DESY) gave an overview of research funding in Germany and Europe, Christian Stegmann (DESY) introduced the DZA (German Center for Astrophysics), and Doris Mischka (FAU) shared insights on pre-history in Eastern Europe.

Lastly, everyone got to enjoy a free day on Friday, exploring the nature in the area or closeby cities.

A big thank you to all participants, speakers, and organizers for making it an unforgettable week. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Astroparticle School!
