Scientists from ECAP are largely involved in the design and construction of CTA, the Cherenkov Telescope Array, and in the preparations for data exploitation of this next-generation observatory for very-high-energy gamma-ray astronomy. Contributions range from shaping CTA’s science case and and preparations for high-level data analysis to hardware development of CTA’s science cameras and quality assurance for mirrors and photosensors.

As a major milestone of the project, the CTA consortium has now released the latest version of its science vision document Science with the Cherenkov Telescope Array. The work includes more than 200 pages that introduce and elaborate on CTA’s major science themes and place CTA in the context of other major observatories.

The document will be appear in a special edition of International Journal of Modern Physics D soon, but is already available for download from the preprint server.
